Has become my regular casino, Saturday, 04 August 2007 Written by jfurdell Cardroom Quality: The cardroom is upstairs and has a view of the casino below. The casino is clean, with comfy office chairs and flat-screen TVs around the poker tables. Not much variety in the games: tables are almost always $3-$6, rarely bumped up to $4-$8, and/or half-kill, or $2-$20 spread. There's also a bar upstairs, a pool table, and an outdoor balcony.
Player Level: Pretty good for a mini-casino, I think. There are some tough regulars, and other regulars who are loose and really throw raises around. There's the occasional popped-collar youngster who really doesn't know what he's doing, but overall the player quality is pretty good, and players generally know the relative value of their hands. Dealers: I've never seen one make a significant mistake. (After playing at Tulalip and having the dealer try to award the pot to a player with pocket pairs lower than the two pairs on the board, twice in a row, I've come to appreciate this bunch all the more.) They tend to be pretty quiet while dealing, and they tend to play when off-duty. Food and Drink: There's a "poker menu" with free food while you're playing poker, which I'm not used to seeing. Good club sandwiches and Chinese food. Beer (e.g. Red Hook) runs $3.50; free bottled water and coffee. Management: Makes an effort to get to know your name and get you in a game. Sometimes gets overwhelmed when there are three tables, jackpots to be paid out, AND the brush is trying to play in one of the games as well. Any disputes or rowdy players I've seen have been handled well. Extras: Typical progressive jackpot bonuses for quads, and royal and wheel straight flushes. Sunday-Tuesday there are two high-hand bonuses awarded every two hours starting at 4 p.m.: $200 for two-card high hand (both hole cards play) and $100 for one-card, which seems pretty generous. That rake could be tough to beat, though.
